Newspaper Columns

Weeks in the Howe

… was the first collection of Norman’s columns from the Press and Journal. It was published in 1999 to answer reader demand and the entire print run sold out within five weeks.

Book-tracking services such as www.bibliofind.com might be able to help you find a used copy.

The book contained 52 examples of Norman’s best newspaper writing from 1987 to 1999 and included an afterword written by his wife, Alison, otherwise known to his readers as “the CO”.

… was the second collection of Norman’s columns from the Press and Journal.

It was published in 2001 as a follow-up to Weeks in the Howe, a collection which is now sold out and which has been trading at up to £30 a copy on the internet. Fortnights, too, is now very hard to find.

Fortnights contained 52 examples of Norman’s best newspaper writing from 1999 to 2001 and included a foreword written by the primary-school teacher who set him off on a career as a writer, Phyllis Walker.
